GENDER EXPRESSION CARE WORKSHOPS

 

You don’t need to do this alone.

We offer online workshops for transgender and non-binary folx from adolescence through adulthood. Our workshops are a unique mix of education, professional support, and mutual aid.

 

  • This seven-week workshop series will provide a comfortable and safe environment for kids (ages 13-17) and their parents or legal guardians to explore gender identity and learn ways to express themselves authentically.

    Guest speakers may include speech therapists, pediatric gender therapists, physical therapists, and other trans-knowledgeable providers. We tailor the program to the specific needs of the cohort.

  • In this seven-week 90-minute workshop series, led by Monica Prata, you’ll have the opportunity to define your own unique identity. Through her expert guidance, alongside top specialists in the gender expression field, you’ll have all your GEC questions answered. You’ll also have the opportunity for 1:1 consultations.

    Most importantly, it’s a chance to try new things in a safe space and build connections with peers.

What happens in Gender Expression Care Workshops?

In GEC, you get to define your unique vision for where you want to be.

We provide a safe space to address your practical needs during gender transition with the help of professionally trained experts. It includes:

  • Gender-congruent wardrobe and hair styling

  • Feminizing/masculinizing/neutralizing cosmetics and skincare

  • Gender-expressive vocal coaching

  • Gender-affirming movement and exercise

  • Dedicated time to ask medical questions to TGNB-affirming doctors

  • Asserting pronouns and coming out

  • Confidence coaching

  • Transition timeline planning

 

Why do a Gender Expression Care Workshop?

Because community is powerful & transformational.

The group setting offers members a unique opportunity to literally and figuratively try things on in a “test kitchen” environment and to give one another support and feedback, building vital, sustaining relationships.

  • No. GEC may have a therapeutic effect but is not a substitute for therapy. We recommend that you have a mental health provider. GEC works best when you are being supported and have multiple avenues to process your experiences.

  • Not at all. We believe that gender constructs are limited and limiting. GEC immersives and workshops serve as a test kitchen for exploring an expansive range of expressions within your chosen identity. We help you navigate to your unique persona and cultivate an external expression that feels authentic to you.

  • The workshops are all held online.

    The Adult Workshop meets for 7 weeks, 90 minutes per session.

    The Teen + Parent Workshop runs for 7 weeks. Each session is 2 hours to allow time for both the teen and the parent.

  • Our topics range from specific to broad. Each week is a different focused topic or exercise. We tailor the 8-week program to the specific needs of the group.

 
  • Please talk to your insurance company to see if they cover GEC, and we can give you a superbill.

    If your insurance doesn’t cover it, the cost is $799 for adults and $1499 for teens & parents.

  • Monica offers consultation and education to healthcare systems, such as insurance companies and private clinics.

    She also offers partnerships for healthcare providers to enroll patients into existing group programs.
